lyrics
A beggar asked to take my trash
In exchange for my cold hard cash
He asked me about the weather
And where abouts I came
One got shot in Ensley
And one down at the mall
But I get my news from the street boy
So take it at cost
Well I guess I’m back in steel city
Where all they know is the blues
Grey skies are hanging over my head
That Sloss tower gloom
Devil's on my shoulders
Angels workin' overtime
And Lord she must be tired
Tryin' keep this boy alive
I was on the road to nowhere
Forever I assumed
But I turned the corner
Redemption comes from the blue
Well I guess I’m back in steel city
Where all they know is the blues
Grey skies are hanging over my head
That Sloss tower gloom
Grey skies are hanging over my head
That Sloss tower gloom

So good I've bought it here, on Amazon, and on CD. Saw them live once, when a guitarist was unavailable to tour so they snatched up a member of the Charles Talham band to cover...and they let him jam out, having fully incorporated his funk jazz esque style into their rebel country music. Years into touring, well into a back breaking tour at the truckstops-and-shared-motel-rooms level, and they were still THERE in the moment. Real musicians playing to crowds far smaller than they deserve. burrito741

Why Hell, I can sandwich these upagaina' couple, two, three Bobbie Gentry, Tony Joe White, and Jeannie C. Riley singles and nobody'd be the wiser that I wasn't spinning some rare single... Shimp
